Y Kids @ Home is a chartered Home Based Education and Care Centre with the Ministry of Education.

Y Kids @ Home is a non profit making community service under the umbrella of YMCA Gisborne. The service caters for children aged 0-6 years of age.

Hours of Operation/Nga Haora

The operates Monday to Friday, 7.30am till 5.30pm excluding Statutory Holidays and between Christmas and New Years.

Curriculum/He Marautanga

Y Kids @ Home Programmes and Experiences are guided by Te Whariki - The New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum.
Children experience learning environments where they "Grow up as component and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society." Activities and experiences are child initiated and supported by our Home based Educators and Qualified, Registered Co-ordinators. Learning is based upon children's strengths and Interests.

Management/Nga Kaiwhakahaere

Y Kids @ Home is governed by YMCA Gisborne Board of Directors and is managed by qualified and experienced personnel. Whanau Meetings are held each term to ensure the families are informed and consulted.

The service boasts a fantastic team of qualified and experienced Educators.
Home Based Educators are contracted to offer quality care and education in their home environment. They are supported by our qualified and registered early childhood co-ordinator.
The Maximum ratio in each educators home is 1 adult/4 children with a maximum of 2 under two years.

Fees/Nga Utu

Hourly Rates:
Standard hourly  Rate $5.00

Fees are charged for times and days enrolled. Attendance over and above the enrolled times shall be an extra cost. WINZ Subsidies can be accessed to those eligible to subsidise fees.

 20 Free ECE Hours can be accessed to those three and four year olds that are eligible

Absenteeism

All absences Full Charge

Payment Options include cash, cheque, eftpos, credit card, automatic payment and internet banking.

Meals/Nga Kai

Children are required to being their own packed lunch, morning and afternoon teas. We strongly encourage healthy eating and would appreciate limitations on high sugar/fat foods. Due to allergies, no peanuts or egg products are allowed.

Excursions/Nga Haereere

Y Kids @ Home are fortunate to have access to many of the programmes that YMCA Gisborne offer the community. Children at Y Kids @ Home will have access to Y Gym, Weekly Play Group, the YMCA stadium and vehicles for group excursions.
