The YMCA Gisborne operates two Early Childhood Centres, including Te Whare Kohungahunga o Y Tamariki, our bilingual early learning centre located in Kaiti. We are currently seeking two qualified and registered Early Childhood Teacher’s to join our passionate teaching team. One in our 0–2-year-old ruma and one in our 2-3 year old ruma.
Our centre offers three age-appropriate ruma, thoughtfully designed to support tamariki at every stage of their developmental journey, along with two spacious, separate outdoor play areas that encourage exploration, movement, and connection with nature.
About the Role
As a Registered ECE Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, nurturing education programme aligned with Te Whāriki, while supporting the YMCA’s values and centre objectives. You will work collaboratively with kaiako, whānau, and the wider community to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences based on Te Whāriki
Using assessment as a conscious practice of noticing, recognising, and responding
Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Building strong, respectful relationships with children, parents/whānau, and colleagues
Supporting children’s care routines as meaningful opportunities for learning and connection
Upholding health and safety best practice
Contributing positively to centre operations, administration, and professional learning
Reflecting on practice to support continuous improvement
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor or Diploma of Teaching (ECE) – minimum requirement
Current New Zealand Teacher Registration and Practising Certificate
At least two years’ experience in a New Zealand ECE setting preferred
Understanding of ECE Regulations and centre policies
Ability to develop and evaluate child-appropriate programmes
Competent ICT skills
Intermediate te reo Māori is an advantage

The Y Gisborne is seeking a part-time Marketing Coordinator (15 hours per week) to help share our stories, strengthen our brand, and connect our community with the services we provide.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing creativity with coordination and wants flexible, meaningful work within a values-driven organisation.
About the Role
The Marketing Coordinator will lead and support marketing activity across the Y Gisborne, ensuring consistent branding, engaging content, and strong promotion of all the Y Gisborne services.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and manage content that promotes the Y Gisborne services and communicates key messages clearly and consistently to the community
Create templates for social media marketing and promotional materials
Manage the Y Gisborne Inc social media pages and support services running their own platforms
Provide guidance to services, including what and when to post, templates, and content ideas
Ensure all the Y Gisborne documentation and materials align with approved branding
Provide accurate branding guidelines to all services
Manage and update the Y Gisborne website as required, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging for members and the wider community
Create, edit, and upload content for the Y Gisborne YouTube channel, maintaining videos to showcase programs, events, and initiatives while maximizing audience engagement.
Identify and implement ways to promote all the Y Gisborne services through targeted and audience-focused communication
Design posters and update pamphlets and printed materials
Build and support strategic alliances within the local community through positive, professional communication and relationship-building
Uphold and promote the values of the Y in all marketing activities
Utilise a range of marketing tools and platforms to grow brand awareness and strengthen community engagement
Deliver clear, consistent, and effective customer communication across all marketing channels including the website
About You
You’re creative, organised, and community-focused, with a strong eye for branding and storytelling. You enjoy working across teams and supporting others with marketing tools and ideas.
You will bring:
Experience in marketing, communications, or a related field
Strong writing and content creation skills
Experience managing social media and digital platforms
Basic design skills and an understanding of branding principles
Excellent time management and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
Alignment with the values and purpose of the Y Gisborne
